Both the Bishops are interior designers and hence relished the opportunity to work on an exciting project that was their own. They say, ‘We see our home as one of the most important aspects of our lives. It is our personal haven, our ‘escape’ from all the day to day stresses, a place where we create most of our family’s memories and where we find peace and tranquillity. We have chosen a scheme of cream, black and white and have successfully created a seamless synergy between all the rooms which is important to the overall design integrity of any space. We have also focused on keeping a budget and have mixed expensive design classics with accessible pieces from retail stores and one-off pieces from our travels all over the world.’
They chose to live in a single story villa in Jumeirah primarily for it ‘old Dubai’ charm, central location and proximity to the beach. Their home is a treasure trove and some of their favourite places include a Moooi Armchair, a New York Empire fireplace, an original Corbusier Lounge chair in a cow hide and an Italian Lambretta scooter that lives in the house! Though both are clearly in aesthetics, due to their work, they stress that it is important that their home is also comfortable and a relaxing space to come back to as life in Dubai can be very hectic.
